"Language is a source of misunderstanding."

"LANGUAGE IS A SOURCE OF MISUNDERSTANDING." -McLuhan, 1964
"LANGUAGE IS A SOURCE OF MISUNDERSTANDING." -McLuhan, 1964
It implies that language is not always used for uniting people because it is very critical if there are different languages in a certain country. Sometimes language creates a confusion to individuals when the language isn't used properly or when individuals are not educated enough in their language like in Philippines, some people cannot access free education, therefore, they cannot have a wider knowledge in their own language.
I think most of the time, the user/audience were affected by their past experiences, knowledge, beliefs, or ideas (schema) when interpreting messages. Because of their past encounters, or experience, they might have sunk in to them in how they are going to process messages.
It is possible that a different individual derives a different meaning from the message they encoded because all individuals have their own perspective which were affected by their own perceptions, experience, and knowledge.

1. Leonard: "What is your role in the school community?"
Mrs. Bautista: "For further clarification of the subject matter."
2. Leonard: "What type of information are you responsible for? What type of information do you receive and pass on to the school community?"
Mrs. Bautista: "Mainly subject matter information are from the administration."
3. Leonard: "In what ways does passing on this information help the school community?"
Mrs. Bautista: "It becomes helpful to the society and community, when they are applying the concepts they teach."
4. Leonard: "How do you know that the information you pass on is true?"
Mrs. Bautista: "Research, a reliable source, books, authors, admins (B&W) signed documents."
5. Leonard: "Last question here Mrs. Bautista. Are these pieces of information available in popular media?"
Mrs. Bautista: "Not all because the information are first hand, most people should have proper dissemination."
Due to a technical problem, the video file of the interview we conducted was corrupted and was cut. We are sorry for what happened. Thanks for the understanding. :) Here is a clip we managed to save:

MIND MAP

MIND MAP
Indigenous Media and Information can affect the society and can help on our sharing of information by means of communication. People find information that matches their need by categorizing the information they need first before searching it through the Google and other searching applications. For example, you need an information about scientific medicine to cure asthma, of course, you classify it as in the field of Science. So you just search through the newspaper in the science page and there you can find information.
I can choose from the wide variety of information by doing cross-searching if I have lots of reliable sources. I would choose the best information from those sources I have and check and connect the information I have in a right manner. Though it is made from different sources, still if it is a right information, the content made by the sources were the same.
MEDIA AND INFORMATION SOURCES (SELECTION CRITERIA)
December 8, 2017
Reliability - I think it is considered reliable about the information of "fake news". the statement of Grace Poe about fake news can be verified to other sources, though the news source is trusted, still there could be some clips being cut in the scene.
Accuracy - The fact that there is a group of people who created 'fakebook' which is an application for desktops to check the reliability and accuracy of the information given out. The article was not written objectively and been taken care since the ABS-CBN writer who made it used facts.
Value - This is valuable for Filipino audience since all should be aware about fake news spreading throughout the country.
Authority - ABS-CBN wrote the article, who is expert on it. His source was really those involved in to getting the information. They are properly cited since their names and background are being screened on public television. For me, he is not known for biases.
Timeliness - It was written these days. It is timeliness because there are a lot of fake news today in our country which can be either from the government or other people. So, it should be checked before sharing.

PRINT, BROADCAST, NEW MEDIA (including media convergence and synthesis)
December 01, 2017
IT'S ALL ABOUT MEDIA!!!
PRINT MEDIA - this is a media material that is printed on a paper and contains texts and information
BROADCAST MEDIA - this is a media used to spread or broadcast any news or information on any context to the public
NEW MEDIA - this is a media that enhanced the way of spreading information with the aid of new technologies and innovations which makes it easier and fast to dissect news
SYNTHESIS
-New technology develops and helps in innovation which led to traditional and new media convergence. They enhanced the traditional forms or media and transformed it to the next level.
-In media convergence, unlike in the past years, the small audience and the producer or source interact but because of media convergence, the chance for interacting with wider audience was established.
-Using one or two forms, for example, newspaper websites and social networking sites, the information and knowledge is easily given to the public that is why it is better.
-A person would be portrayed in public differently because if you use two or more forms of media, there would be a lot of factors that can affect how that person should be portrayed in their sight.
