OLD TELEVISION(2004)
It is a device that receives TV signals and projects in screen. It is where me and my sister watch our favorite cartoon series back in 2004, thus, it helps to create a bond between me and my older sister.

OLD RADIO(2004)
It uses radio waves to carry information allocated to different places. I dance when I was a child with the music I hear from the radio and I used to listen to the news though I cannot understand some in the news, my mother guides me to what I head on the radio and from that I learn important things.

OLD WOODEN STEREO(2006)
It is where sound is directed to two or more speakers which surrounds the listener. We try to play minus one discs and listen to its sound for the content of the discs are satisfying and brings us back to the 90s.

OLD SAMSUNG TV(2006)
It is a television with colors projected unlike before. My father bought a Samsung television because I still watched cartoon series or movies through it. Every night we watch in GMA channel to see the next episode of our favorite drama.

PORTABLE DVD PLAYER(2008)
It is a mobile, battery powered DVD player in the format of a mobile device. Many recent players play files from USB flash drives and SD cards. I love using DVD player when I was still 10 years old because I also watch comedy movies and Filipino movies. But nowadays, it is kind of obsolete because the pirated CDs are I think limited, unlike before, which means that only few use DVD since then.

TELEPHONE(2009)
This is a telecommunication device that permits two or more users to talk even if they are far away from each other. Back then, we have two PLDT telephone inside our house, the one is on the second floor and the other is in our living room. It is helpful because when I was in elementary, I always ask and consult my friends about our homework. This also links us to our relatives around Manila because we can have a conversation over the telephone.

JVC COMPACT COMPONENT SYSTEM(2010)
It is a compact component system radio and plays audio compact discs and cassette tapes. With it, I can play my favorite anime, One Piece, every morning. I also watch movies in CDs through it then I listen to 101.1 fm.

MP3 PLAYER(2010)
It is a small device that plays mp3 audio music. I cannot live my life happily if I did not get an mp3 when I was 10. Listening to songs any time and any where makes me so calm and happy.

LG DESKTOP COMPUTER(2011)
It is a device instructed to carry out arbitrary sequences of arithmetic automatically. This helped me in learning and doing my homework because there is an application installed named "Encarta Kids" which is a set of book games that interacts with the user. There is a "Game House" installed in our LG PC that is why we are once a computer gamer.

NEWSPAPER(2012)
It is a periodical publication containing written information about current events. When in elementary, there is a journalism club in our school. I recognized that they have a cartooning staff vacancy. So, I applied to be a cartoonist in their editorial page because I am interested in news and I have the skills in drawing. I am exposed to different newspapers like Manila Bulletin, Pilipino Star Ngayon, Tempo, Abante, and more. I became aware of what happened to my society.

NOKIA X2-01 CELLPHONE(2013)
It is a portable telephone that receives calls and texts. I use it to call and text my parents whenever I need to go home early or late from school. Without this, I would not be able to notify my mom or dad if I am in a safe condition.

TWITTER(2014)
It is an online news and social networking service where users post and interact with messages, called "tweets." I started to use twitter because it is my medium to express my emotions or opinions. This is one of the bridges to be close to other people in my batch because I can freely reply with their tweets or have a direct message. It is also contributes to my knowledge because frequently, twitter of government organizations and department notifies me because I follow them in Twitter.

POLAROID DIAMOND 3G+ ANDROID PHONE(2014)
This android phone is a handheld personal computer with a mobile operating system. This enabled me to use different applications connected to the Internet, lets me capture scenic views, take a video of memorable moments when I am in MaSci, and to call or text other people.

IPAD MINI(2015)
This is a mini tablet computer developed by Apple Inc. Until now (2017), I own an iPad mini which my uncle gave me. It helped me to quickly send messages, play music and videos, and more. My level of productivity increased when I got my iPad mini.

FLAT SCREEN SAMSUNG SMART TV(2016)
It is a slimmer version of a television than before with matching high quality look and has a cable. It can connect to the internet and can be used to help in daily activities (exercise, cooking, cleaning, etc.). It is where I watch TV series and movies these years.

DELL INSPIRON 1440 LAPTOP & SAMSUNG NOTEBOOK(2016)
Both are small portable personal computer with a "clam shell" form factor. I use the pink dell laptop anywhere since it is portable which makes it easy for me to do requirements like inside the café, in the school, or other workplaces. The red Samsung notebook is my storage of files that I used to print outside our house.

CANON PIXMA MP250 PRINTER(2017)
It is a peripheral device which makes a persistent human-readable representation of graphics or text on paper. This canon printer model that we bought just this year, enhanced my level of productivity because I can easily print any document without any problems in the ink cartridges. Also, it prints high quality even if you set the print quality to standard.

INTERNET OF THINGS

(answer to the assignment)

 

         For me, Internet of Things (IoT) is simply the internet that the devices, appliances, gadgets, and other electronic things are connected to. The things that we use daily that is connected to the Internet via wireless networks may help people to have an ease on doing their works and may build a greater increase for the efficiency of doing daily activities.

This theory was brought by the time where technological appliances and devices create a strong connection for everything, even if it seems to be impossible that everything can be connected. Through the idea of Internet of Things, some people are persuaded and determined to make huge changes in the world.

 

         I like this concept of IoT because nowadays most Filipinos need to have things that is connected to the internet which means they are connected to the whole world. Filipinos can know about different information exchanged through internet and somehow they can share it responsibly. Maybe the Filipinos are not the only ones who will benefit from IoT but other countries too so they can easily have a better connection to one another. In my different perspective, I think IoT can help for security purposes enhancement. It can make houses safe from outside danger that can literally help lower the rate of crimes recorded every year. All in all, IoT would really help most of us to easily do works, build connection and security, improve our medical technology, construct knowledge for many people, and more. Only that we should be considerate about the little glitches or problems about the concept of IoT because it can be the hindrance to connection of everything.

 

          I encounter IoT in the Philippines when I am with my mom and sister. We went to SM Aura to have fun. So we tried riding Uber taxi and then while we are on the way to SM Aura, I noticed that they are using an installed application on their smart phones which leads and guides the driver of the Uber to the roads where there is just a moderate traffic, thus, making it on time to go to our own destination. That's why after we ride Uber taxi, we are being used to ride Uber or Grab taxi rather than ordinary taxi because it is more efficient and fast.

 

          Medical machineries or apparatus used in hospitals in the Philippines will be put to the next level if IoT is present. The lives of Filipinos will be easier with IoT because they can use it at home, for making better decisions, for safety, for comfort, for transportation, and more. The only flaws that can affect Filipinos if there is an IoT are the security and privacy of theirselves because hackers or people who are good at doing threats can be a huge problem to them.

 

          I think IoT has a huge relationship to media and information literacy because I know that the things being connected with the power of Internet can make each individuals connected and share information. Between them, the people are having/developing the ability to be responsible of the things, analyze, evaluate, use, access, and communicate information and knowledge through it.
